3D Modeling
I missed the first three weeks of class because of my visa
Week 4 Cylindrical Modeling
Class Summary and Reflection
In this class, we focused on circles and columns. We learned how to use keyboard shortcuts for creation. During the lesson, we also learned how to make a plastic bottle. The teacher taught us simple methods to create it, making the design smoother and more aesthetically pleasing.
EXERCISE 2: MODELING FROM CYLINDRICAL SHAPE
Think of any object made of cylindrical shape such as a plate, bottle, bowl, glass etc.
Make a composition from multiple different objects as in the example.
Get as much as references such as blueprint or images for selected objects.
Model the object using a primitive cylinder by utilising modeling tools like Extrude, Bevel, Inset and Loop Cut. Apply a smooth modifier and adjust the sharpness or smoothness of the corner using various techniques.
Use Viewport rendering in Blender for final output. Output size is 1280 x 720 with png format.
Upload the 2 final images (PNG) with and without wireframe.
Explanation on your e-portfolio and update the link on TIMES platform as submission.
Upload Blender file.
Submission by next class.
Last week, we learned how to create the upper part of the bottle. This week, we learned how to create the lower part of the bottle, which involves using beveling to make the edges smoother and less sharp.
In class, we learned how to create a car. The teacher guided us step by step, teaching techniques such as loop cutting, adding bevels, and more. The entire cart design was quite complex, so the teacher broke it down for us, showing us how to disassemble each part step by step. Throughout the process, the teacher observed our work, provided assistance, and answered any questions we had.
This week, we focused on modeling based on a reference photo of a knife. We saved the image on the computer and imported it into Blender. Then, we needed to create a new cylinder and change its number of sides to 16, so that it aligned with the knife’s vertices. The teacher guided us very thoroughly, and we followed the steps step by step. In the past few lessons, we’ve used most of the tools we’ve learned, and this course requires becoming familiar with some keyboard shortcuts and learning to use them efficiently. The key is to strengthen our skills through repeated practice.
This week, we continued learning how to add details to the knife. When refining the handle, we learned a different method from last week, but one that yields the same result. In future modeling projects, we can choose this simpler and more efficient method to create the details.
