Project 1 - Website Redesign Proposal

Fig 2.1

Introduction:

For Project 1, I began by selecting an existing website that exhibited issues related to design, user experience, or functionality. I conducted an evaluation of its current layout, usability, and overall performance to identify key pain points. Based on this assessment, I defined clear redesign objectives, outlined the target audience, and justified how the new design would better meet user needs. I then formulated a comprehensive design plan that included visual concepts, UX improvement strategies, and technical optimization approaches. Finally, I used tools such as Canva to develop a proposal, integrated it into a digital portfolio, and submitted the portfolio link for assessment.

SFACC:

SFACC (San Francisco Animal Shelter and Control Center) is San Francisco's only open animal shelter dedicated to rescuing, housing, and rehoming abandoned animals, while also focusing on urban animal welfare and safety. It accepts all types of animals (regardless of their health condition or breed) and also provides adoption, searching for lost pets, community services (such as low-cost vaccinations and microchipping), as well as volunteer services and border support. The organization is comprehensive, transparent, and places particular emphasis on community partnerships to ensure animals receive adequate welfare.

I chose SFACC because it is an organization closely related to public welfare and animal protection, and I have a strong interest in issues such as animal adoption and shelter services. I wanted to redesign its website from both a designer’s and a user’s perspective, focusing on improving clarity, accessibility, and emotional connection. My goal is to transform the SFACC website into a more modern, user friendly platform that better supports its community mission while meeting current web design trends and enhancing the overall experience for visitors seeking help, information, or ways to support animals.
